Twin Towers of WTC & the Statue of Liberty Photo by Russ Considine

Photograph © by Russel Alan Considine

As the 16th anniversary of the attacks of 9-11-01 swiftly approach, here is a photo of the Twin Towers and the Statue of Liberty that I took during the Summer of 1980. I used a Konica Auto T camera, 35mm negative film and wide angle lens; hand-held and no flash.

God Bless my high school chaplain: Father Francis Grogan, and all who perished on that fateful day, and comfort their loved ones left behind on Planet Earth. Father Grogan was aboard United Flight 175 (the second plane to hit the Towers, the South Tower shown on the right above), and all the souls who lost their lives as a result of the attacks of 9-11-01. I will never forget turning on my TV after hearing news about the first plane that hit the North Tower at 8:46 am. Barely seconds after viewing, I saw Father Grogan's plane live as it hit the South Tower of the WTC. Father Frank was a very humble and cheerful person and he told me to enjoy every second of life to the fullest. He said that the reason we call it "the present" is that "every moment is gift."
